Funeral services for Mary M. Varland, 80, of Rosenberg, will be held on Friday, Jan. 10, at 10 a.m. at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg, with interment following at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. A prayer service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 9, at 7 p.m. in the stateroom at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home. Reverends John P. Willmann and Charles Sheppard will officiate the services. Friends may call after 3 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, in the Stateroom at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home, 3900 B.F. Terry Blvd. (FM 2218 and Hwy. 59) in Rosenberg.
She was born on Sept. 23, 1916 in Colton, Oklahoma to Carmelo and Camela Azzaro. She passed away on Jan. 7, 1997 in Richmond. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Rosenberg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carmelo and Camela Azzaro; her sisters, Frances Renner and Minnie Varden; and a brother, James Azzaro.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Elmer Varland of Rosenberg; a daughter, Marlene Anhaiser and her husband, Charles, of Rosenberg; her sisters, Camela Carraway and her husband, Max, of Lakeland, Florida, and Cora Kilgore and her husband, Virgil, of Kansas City, Kansas; and grandchildren, Sean and Michael Anhaiser of Rosenberg.
