She was born in Moriah, N.Y., on Nov. 3, 1909, in the home where she resided for 94 1/2 years.
She was the daughter of Daniel H. and Eliza Jane (Bigelow) Yell.
Phyllis began her teaching career in 1930. She taught school in several one-room schoolhouses for seven years. She was a lifelong member of the Moriah United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed playing the piano, knitting, gardening and above all spending quality time with her family and friends.
Phyllis married the love of her life, Alton Thomas Hendrix on June 25, 1932.
She was predeceased by her parents; brother, Percival Yell; sister, Pauline Yell and her husband Alton Thomas Hendrix.
