Barbara accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Paran Missionary Baptist
Church and sometime later joined the New Bethel Missionary Baptist
Church. Barbara attended elementary school IPS # 60 Mapleton Fall Creek
Junior High and graduated from Shortridge High School in 1975. She briefly attended IUPUI with a focus in Business Communication. On September 8, 1986, she married Terry J. Brandon, the love of her life.
Barbara was a kind and giving person. She was loved and trusted by everyone. She had a gift for working with people and she used her talents throughout her career. Barbara's former employers include W. H. Blocks Department Store, Graham Electronics, Bell Industries, Future Electronics, Dart Controls and she worked many years as a beauty consultant for Avon Incorporated. At the time of her passing/ she was/ employed at Arrow Electronics, headquartered in Denver Colorado.
Barbara was an avid bowler for years and participated in several leagues
across the Indianapolis area. She enjoyed sports and was a loyal fan of
the Indiana Pacers, the Indianapolis Colts and Indiana University basketball
and she traveled extensively with family and friends. Barbara had compassion for all animals but loved cats. She was the proud parent of several furry (kids), Ricki, Gigget, and Chippy (past) and Bandit and Shadow (present).
Barbara was, affectionately known, to family and friends as "Bonnie" and as "Barb", to her business associates.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Terry J. Brandon; mother, Charmaine M. Smith; brothers, Willie T. Jr., Walter (Michelle), and Larry (Dana) Smith; Arnold (Ilona) Keith of Germany; sisters, Gengie Smith; Beverly Rogers; Laura Francis Smith; Sharon Edwards; Mildred Smith; Angela Daniels; Linda Smith of Missouri City, TX; Donna (Philip) Frank of San Francisco, CA; nieces, nephews, and other family members too numerous to mention; friends and co-workers.
Her visitation is Saturday, January 17, 2015, 10am – 12pm, with the Homegoing Celebration at 12pm at Temple of Believers, 5230 E. 38th Street, Indianapolis. Burial immediately following the home going service at Crown Hill Cemetery located at 700 West 38th Street, Indianapolis, IN
