Bim was the son of the late Rufus Allen "Bun" and Gloria Jeanne (Rhyno) Bigsby.

Bim was a graduate of Manhattan High School in 1964. He was a standout athlete at Manhattan high school where he played basketball, was a first-string quarterback on the football team and even set a state record in high jump. He was also voted pigskin prom king his senior year.

Bim was the lead singer of the MARC V (later called the MARCS), one of Manhattan's first rock bands formed in 1965. The other band members were: Lindy Gallaher, Al Hanson, Ron Pauli, and Terry Greenough.

Bim was a graduate from Kansas State University with a Bachelors' degrees in restaurant management and Geology, and served in the U.S. Army. He was a diehard Kansas State Wildcat fan, a painter and a history researcher.

Bim enjoyed completing The New York Times crossword puzzles, was a voracious reader and history enthusiast, and in his spare time he loved going on local archeological hunts, where he amassed a large collection of pristine arrowheads and other finds.

Bim is also survived by two sisters, Sandi and Sara; a nephew; and several nieces.
