Sophia is the daughter of William Amery (1781-1858) and Elizabeth Pethybridge 1789-1844).

Sophia Amery and Georege Furse Amery were married April 24, 1856 in Lustleigh, Devon, England. She and her husband are cousins. John Amery and Mary (Heyward)Amery are the paternal grandparents of Sophia Amery and the paternal great grandparents of George Furse Amery.

The Carroll Record February 11, 1887
The local newspaper published the following:
"Roads, Mrs. George F. Amery, who died two weeks ago will be buried tomorrow, Sunday, at the family burying ground. Funeral preached by Rev. Wm Keltner. Her son, Thos. Amery, of Washington Territory, failed to come from some unknown cause."

The family burying ground mentioned was located in the front yard, South of the residence. Perhaps there were infant children buried there also. The only known family member to preceed Sophia is son George Furse Amery Jr. He was buried in a redwood casket and arrived by train from the territory of Washington. The family burying ground was encircled by heavy steel pipe.
