She married Chileab Smith probably about 1788, probably in CT. They moved from CT to Berkshire Co., MA between 1800 & 1810, and from there to then Huron Co., OH.
"In 1814 they immigrated to Lorain county the trip being made with ox wagons; and it took them five days to cut a road from the present site of Elyria through the woods to what afterward became Amherst township (for it was not organized till April 1817) where they arrived October 16, 1814. Here they settled upon land for which..(Chileab) had traded property in the East to the CT Land Co. He was by trade a tailor, at which he worked in his new home during intervals in his farm work... As an exhorter in the M.E. Church, he held frequent meetings in the neighborhood of his home and in his own house. When old age came upon him he turned his farm over to his children, who also inherited the good name of one of the best and earliest of the pioneers. He had settled on little Beaver Creek, four miles west of where is now Elyria, and opened the first tavern in that vicinity."
