Born in Fairhaven, he was the son of the late Manuel and Caroline Rego. He was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Fairhaven. John served his country as a U.S. Marine in the Korean War. He was the owner and operator of John’s Texaco Service Station in Middleboro for over 40 years until his retirement. He was a member of the St. Mary’s Golden Agers and Goodyear Seniors.
He is survived by his wife, Ilene; a son, Alan J. Rego and his wife Michelle; a grandson, Tyler D. Rego of Bryan, TX; a step-grandson, Dylan J. Rodrigues and many nieces and nephews. John was the last of his 10 brothers and sisters.
Funeral Information
Visiting hours will be Thursday, January 15, 2015, from 4-8pm in the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Fairhaven. His funeral will be held Friday, January 16, 2015, at 8:00am from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00am in St. Mary’s Church, Fairhaven. Interment with Honors will be in River-Side Cemetery, Fairhaven.
