Born July 12, 1924 in Bucyrus, she was the daughter of the late Horace F. and Marjorie (Faulkner) Place. She was also preceded in death by her former husband William H. Richardson; her daughter, Amy Richardson; her sister Connie (Place) Haddox; son-in-law Mike Jokerst and a nephew Davin Burnes.
She is survived by her daughters, Beth Richardson of Columbus, Ann (Tom) Shockley Ocean Pines, MD, Cecelia Jokerst of Columbus; son Seth F. Richardson of Columbus; six grandchildren, Thomas Mazonas, Sarah (Frank) Dimiceli, Eric M. (Kelly) Shockley, Lisa (Bernard) Devieux, Andy and Christina Jokerst, and two great-grandchildren, Samuel Dimiceli and Katelyn Shockley. She is also survived by her cousin Mary Jo Faulkner, niece Linda Crim and a nephew James Burnes.
Joanne graduated from Galion High School in 1942 and attended DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana and Dykes & Spencerian Business College in Cleveland.
Joanne was a member of the Olentangy Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Galion and former member of the Naomi Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, Galion Hospital Auxiliary Twig, First United Methodist Church of Galion, and the Galion Country Club.
Over the years, Joanne enjoyed many interests such as horseback riding, bridge, golf, cooking, and being with friends. Her family remembers her delicious cooking, her love of growing “posies” and enjoying being with her family. She was a genteele soul from a bygone era. Joanne was admired for her inner strength and abundant love for all those whose lives she touched. She will sorely be missed by her family and friends.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, January 16, 2015 at the Snyder Funeral Home Richardson Davis Chapel, 218 S. Market St. Galion 44833 where services will be held at 11:00 am., Saturday, January 17, with Rev. Jerry Penrod officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
