Paul E. Altenburger, 92, died at 1:25 a.m. Nov. 13, 2006, at Springview Manor Nursing Home.
He was born Nov. 28, 1913, in Delphos to William Andrew and Zoe Huber Altenberger, who preceded him in death. On Sept. 12, 1935, he married Nelle Wilson, who died June 2, 1982. On June 25, 1983, he married Norma C. Miehls Brookhart, who survives in Lima.
Mr. Altenberger had been a salesman for Pennington Bakery for 35 years and a courier for Huntington Bank for five years. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church. He was a 1935 graduate of St. Rose High School. He enjoyed golfing. He had also lived in Bradenton, Fla.
Survivors also include a daughter, Carolyn Sue (Joseph C.) Stoll, of Lima; two stepdaughters, Jacqueline Murphy, of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Bonnie (Peter) Lonnevick, of Garden Grove, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Christopher Paul Stoll, William John Stoll, Bart Thomas Stoll, Rebecca Sue (Steve) Mac Donald, Elizabeth Ann (David) Brown, Thomas Paul (Jerri) Altenberger and Amy Marie (Matt) Cudworth; three stepgrandsons, Timothy (Delia) Modica, Dean Robert Modica and Peter (Jennifer) Lonnevick; nine great-grandchildren and three step*great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas G. Altenberger, who died in April 1983; and a brother, Marvin Altenberger, who died in 1975.
A memorial Mass will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Rose Catholic Church. Father William Rose will officiate. Burial of the remains will be in Gethsemani Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rose Catholic Church or the building fund at Lima Central Catholic High School.
