Emily O. (Lynn) Gilbert, 96, of 300 Martz Street, Berwick, died late Wednesday evening, February 9, 2005, at the Orangeville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where she had been a resident for the past three years.
Born June 1, 1908, in Berwick, she was a daughter of the late Sofarus Lynn and Kate (Fowler) Lynn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer H. Gilbert, on March 2, 1970.
Mrs. Gilbert was a registered nurse and had been employed by Berwick Hospital and the former Reese Nursing Home in Berwick. She had also done private duty nursing and worked at nursing homes in New Jersey and Wilkes-Barre.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Berwick.
A resident of Berwick for most of her life, she attended Berwick schools and the Berwick Hospital School of Nursing. She also received some of her nurse's training in Pittsburgh.
Surviving are her daughter, Lynne C. Rosbach of Berwick, and three granddaughters, Christy Waters, Jennifer Schultz, and Beth Berlin. Two great-grandsons also survive.
She was the last member of her immediate family, being preceded in death by the following siblings: Ruth Hower, Helen Lynn, Sara Lloyd, Anna Wagner, Hazel Karchner, Clara Lynn, Charles Lynn, Byron Lynn, John Lynn, George Lynn, David Lynn, James Lynn, and Wilbert Lynn.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Kelchner-McMichael Funeral Home, 119-121 East Third Street, Berwick.
