James Marion Goff, age 54 years passed peacefully and quietly away at his residence in Sweetwater, Friday evening, January 10th, at 10 o'clock p.m.
The deceased leaves a wife and a large family of nine children to mourn his loss and make their way through this world of trials and tribulations alone. The whole family were at his bedside and watched the last flickering light of a useful life relentlessly extinguished by the hand of Death.
Mr. Goff was born in Kentucky April 5th, 1835, and moved with his father to Illinois when one year of age, living there until eleven years ago when he immigrated to this place.
He purchased a fine section of land and until the failure of his health, almost one year ago, and was known as one of our most successful farmers.
