OBITUARY - ORIN EASTMAN - 1984
Former Crandon resident Orin Eastman, 63, of Davenport, Iowa, died February 9th at the V.A. hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. The son of Gene and Ida L. (Nelson) Eastman, he was born on September 10, 1920, in Laona. Mr. Eastman moved to Davenport seventeen years ago, where he worked as a construction worker on a gas pipeline until becoming ill. Prior to leaving Crandon, he was a woodsman. Mr. Eastman alsoserved in the Air Force in World War II.
He is survived by his daughter, Karen Honkala of Minnesota; his sons, Gene (Andrea), Crandon; Kenneth (Dina), Conroe, Texas; John (Julie), Bakersfield, California; David,, Stevens Point; Jeff (Penny), a member of the U.S. Air Force in Spain; and Gordon, also a member of the U.S. Air Force. He is also survived by a sister, Hilda Cook of Laona, and seven grandchildren. Mr. Eastman was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, February 14, from 5-8 p.m. at the Halverson-Suminski Funeral Home, Crandon. A funeral service was held at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 15th, at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Richard Perik officiated. Burial is planned in the spring at the Laona cemetery.
