Robert Zimmerman, age 96, of Carson City passed away Friday, October 29, 2021, at his home with family by his side, under the care of Spectrum Hospice. He was born February 24, 1925, in McBride the son of Earl and Nellie (Hockstra) Zimmerman. He married Marian Jean Jorgensen on August 21, 1948, in McBride. He worked for Meijer in Greenville and farmed for most of his life. He volunteered for Carson City Hospital for many years.
He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Carson City and Gideon's International. He had many speaking engagements with Gideons. Robert enjoyed golfing, was an avid Spartan fan, wintering in Zephyrhills, FL. and attending his grandchildren's event.
He is survived by his children, Rodney (Sherry) Zimmerman, Dorrine McCormick, Lois (Manuel) Mejia, Ray (Sharon Crawley) Zimmerman; grandchildren Gary (Angie) Zimmerman, Lisa Sattler, Jeremy (Marnie) Zimmerman, Shane (Jen) Sattler, Bridget (Ryan) Phelps, Holly (Jonathan) Roth, Casey (Paxton) Wirtz, Destiny (Adam) Villalobos; great-grandchildren Tori (Aaron), Skyler, Jace, Khyra, Elysse, Avynn, Kian, Aliah, Jordan, Jerrod (Val), Bryson, Brionna, Sawyer, Rae, Silas, Dean; great-great grandchildren Keegan, Riley, Bradlee, Beckham; special neighbor Kennedi Stout; brother Ike (Miriam) Zimmerman and sister Grace Clark.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jean, son-in-law Tim McCormick and brothers Larry and James Zimmerman.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at 11 am at the First Baptist Fellowship Center in Carson City with Pastor Jim Barrett officiating. Interment will follow in Carson City Cemetery, Carson City. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 1st from 6-8 pm at Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home, Carson City. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the First Baptist Church Fellowship Center Building Fund.
