Ralph Leon McKinney, 81, of Liberty Mills, Indiana, died at 6:55 a.m., Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born May 15, 1933 in Kokomo, Indiana to Ralph and Dorothy (Fipps) McKinney.
Ralph was a US Army paratrooper, serving during the Korean Conflict. He married Sharon A. Fagan in North Manchester on January 6, 1992. He attended Kokomo High School, and worked for Luntz Iron & Steel in Kokomo from 1948 until 1968. He then worked for Sposeep & Son until 1978, 3 years for Manchester Community Schools and 22 years at Manchester University, retiring in 2003. Ralph was affiliated with Liberty Mills Church of the Brethren. He loved golfing, fishing, and racing.
He is survived by his wife, 7 children, 2 step-daughters, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, brothers and sister. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Debbie McKinney, brother, William McKinney, and sister, Norma J. Alley.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 17, 2015, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, 207 W. Main St., North Manchester. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester. Friends may call 4-8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Riley Hospital for Children.
