She was born in DeGraff on April 14, 1930, to the late Andrew J. and Mabel G. Wren Stayrook.
On Dec. 31, 1950, she married Richard L. Smith, he passed away in 1954.
On Oct. 23, 1955, she married her second husband and he survives along with 2 children, 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by sisters- and brothers-in-law, Christine and Frank Oder and Shirley and Harold Strobridge.
Maxine graduated from DeGraff High School. She was employed by the Bellefontaine City Schools System serving as a cook and later as head cook at Bellefontaine Middle School. She was an avid bird watcher, enjoyed playing cards and watching game shows on TV. Maxine also enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in all sports. She was an Ohio State Buckeye and Cincinnati Reds fan.
Pastor Floyd Lundy conducts services at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at Jennings Farley Funeral Home where calling is two hours prior. Burial follows in Highland Memorial Cemetery.
