Mr. Odell Powell, age 81, of 1326 West Charity Rd. Rose Hill, NC, died Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC.
Born August 3, 1933 in Duplin County, NC he was the son of the late Remus Spencer Powell and Melissa Cornelia Lambert Powell.
Odell loved his family and was married 56 years to his wife, Goldie. He retired from J P Stevens of Wallace, NC. He enjoyed farming and loved his old farmall tractors. His love of farming also led to his passion for gardening. He was a hard worker, and was still working at age 81.
Survivors include his wife, Goldie Mathis Powell of the home; daughter, Janet Powell Little and husband, Kenneth of Nashville, TN; sister, Fannie Powell Montgomery; granddaughter, Melissa Little Peduzzi and husband, Ryan Thomas; and two great grandchildren, Hudson Jeremiah and Judah Elliot Peduzzi.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 15, 2015, 10:00 a.m. at Community Funeral Home in Rose Hill, NC. Funeral services followed at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial concluded the services in Devotional Gardens, Warsaw, NC.
