"Peggy had a clever sense of humor and was loved by everyone who met her."

Peggy passed away in her Vancouver, Washington home surrounded by her family and friends, on Dec. 30, 2014. She was 90 years old. Peggy was born on a farm near Strasburg, North Dakota, the youngest of 12 children, on September 23, 1924, to Elizabeth Glas and Stephan Volk.

She met her husband, Austin Sheffield in high school. They loved to dance. They married and had seven children and eventually settled in Vancouver, Washington.

Peggy loved her family and collected spoons and clocks. She was the adoptive Grandmother of the Modern Woodman Youth Club.

Peggy is survived by her children, Mary Sheffield, Jan Moore, Jeff Sheffield, Stephen Sheffield (Judy) and Susan Sheffield; 16 grandchildren; 13 1/2 great-grandchildren; and one loyal cat, Jack.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Austin; and sons, Thomas and Timothy.

Viewing and Rosary at Holy Redeemer Parish, 17010 NE 9th St., Vancouver, WA, 98684, on Friday, January 16, 2016. Funeral Mass followed with a reception after Mass. Burial at was at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Vancouver, Washington.
