Ronald Gene Sellers, 84, of Jacksonville, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.

He was born Feb. 14, 1930, in Greenfield, Ohio, the son of H. Lyman and Esther H. Hiatt Sellers. He married Gale Stringer on Aug. 19, 1967, in Los Angeles, and she survives.

Ron is also survived by four children, Timothy (wife, Lynn) Sellers, and Beth (husband, Steve) Oberg, both of Jacksonville, Robin (husband, Todd) Giesen of Lander, Wyoming, and Jamie (husband, Daniel) Bell of Ft. Knox, Kentucky; and 12 grandchildren, Priscilla Sellers of Hannibal, Missouri, Josiah Sellers and Miciah Sellers, both of Jacksonville, Darian (wife, Yvonne) Oberg of Riverton, Cameron Oberg, Bryce Oberg, and Austin Oberg, all of Jacksonville, Hannah Giesen, Michaela Giesen, Luke Giesen, and Lydia Giesen, all of Lander, Wyoming, and Alec Bell of Ft. Knox, Kentucky. He is also survived by one sister, Linda (husband, Bill) Sellers Kauffman of Huntsville, Alabama, and one brother, Dr. David L. (wife, Maureen) Sellers of Meridian, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth R. 'Bobby' Sellers and James H. 'Jimmy' Sellers.

Ron was a letter carrier in Lancaster, California, for 20 years and a minister of the Gospel serving churches in and around Lancaster. He currently had a ministry at the Virginia Baptist Church in Virginia. Ron served in the United States Army as a radio operator for the Signal Corps., stationed for six months in Germany.

Ron was a proud member of the Sunshine Singers and was involved in theatrical productions both locally and in California. He enjoyed gardening, singing, and created beautiful jewelry from pearls and beads. He loved people and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church. The family will meet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Private interment will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. Memorials are suggested to the Virginia Baptist Church. The Williamson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
