Son of the late Jesse Leamon and Beulah Williams Mobley, he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Gail Mobley Lilley. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force (Vietnam). He was retired from the North Carolina Highway Patrol. He was an elder at the Williamston Church of Christ. He was survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn Shifflett Mobley; daughters, Lori Mobley Wynne (Junie) and Dana Mobley White (Barry); granddaughter, Hannah Elizabeth White; brother, J. Sheldon Mobley (Gloria); sister, Mary Lou Cullipher; and an extended family of relatives and friends. His funeral was held on January 4, 2015, with Archie Gilmer and Russell Mann officiating. His burial was with military honors.
