Twenty year old Rebecca, the first born of Steven Wayne Whittington and Rebecca Elizabeth Davis's 11 children, died of infection following the birth of her first child, daughter Rhonda Vivian Wooldridge, on October 21, 1901 in Leon, Oklahoma.

Rebecca was still a newlywed, having married William Hall Wooldridge, son of John Harrison Wooldridge and Mary Elizabeth Wilkerson, on June 21, 1900 in Leon, Love County, Oklahoma (which was then Indian Territory). Her daughter was mostly raised by her in-laws John H. and Mary E. Wooldridge.
