Rachael Evaline Edwards was born Nov. 13, 1869 in Clay County, Illinois, and departed this life June 30, 1928 at 3 o'clock, age 58 years, 7 months and 17 days. She came with her father, one brother and one sister to Kansas in August, 1884, settling at Simpson. They removed to Delphos, Kansas in September of the same year, where she grew to womanhood.

On November 19, 1891 she was united in marriage to Geo. S. Meredith, and to this union five children were born, four sons and one daughter, Raymond I. of Wichita, Kansas, Ronald T. of Delphos, George Howard of Russell, Kansas, Harold William of Salina, Kansas, and Mrs. R.A. Postlethwaite of Minneapolis, all of whom are left to mourn the death of that devoted wife and loving mother. Besides this immediate family, she leaves seven grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. E.C. Hardy of Delphos, Kansas.

Sister Meredith's life had been one of deep devotion, both to her family and friends who knew her best. At an early age, she directed her footsteps toward Christ. She was baptized on Nov. 13, 1887, at which time she joined the Methodist Episcopal Church at Delphos, re-pledging her faith again for Christ in September 1921. She remained in the same spiritual contentment until the end, which came swiftly. She was ill for only a few days.Besides the devoted husband and father, family and relatives, she leaves a host of friends to mourn her loss.

Mother has embarked for that undiscovered country, from whose border no traveler returns. Surely, at this hour, she must be a sojourner in that beautiful city, that one not made by hands but eternal in the heavens, where the supreme architect of the heavens call them who serve him well.

Goodnight, Mother, goodnight.

Memorial services were held at the Delphos Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 2nd, conducted by Rev. Laybourn, the message being brought by Rev. G.S. Smith. Burial in the Delphos Cemetery.
