March 26, 1944 - January 12, 2015

Juan Arturo "Art" Montoya, 70, of Duncan, entered into rest on Monday, January 12, 2015 at his home, with his loving family at his side. He was born on March 26, 1944 in Rancho Cucamonga, CA, to Tomas and Tomasa Montoya. He married Angela Valles on December 3, 1966 in Duncan.

Art traveled by train to Duncan, as a baby, he spent his entire life there. He graduated from Duncan High School in 1962. He joined the Navy and served his country honorably.

Art was an avid hunter and trapper and fed his family by using his skills in hunting. He loved to hunt, fish, trap, and later after retirement be became an avid golfer, and was a member of the Country Club in York. Art was a man of many skills and he and Angie owned and operated "Art's Meat Market" in Duncan for 25 years with the help of their children. He also raised many animals. They retired in 2007.

He is survived by his wife Angie, of Duncan; daughter, Ofelia Montoya of Tucson; sons, Arturo Montoya (Madeline) of York Valley, Roman Montoya (Scotti) of Owasso, OK, Antonio Montoya (Yolanda) of Tucson, and Alberto Montoya of Duncan; sisters, Dolores Lopez (Ernesto) of Phoenix, Evelyn Rodriguez of Duncan, Katherine Bejerano (Eddie) of Duncan, Alice Rodriguez (Daniel) of Duncan, Connie (Simon) Baca of Mesa; brothers, Tony Montoya (Rosa) of Safford, Larry Montoya (Inez) of Morenci, Donald Montoya of Arizona City, Max Montoya (Rachael) of Globe, and Robert Montoya of Green Valley; grandchildren, Tomas, Monique, Mercedes, Mikayla, Miriah, Javan, Diego, and Natalie.

Viewing and Rosary will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2015 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Duncan, with rosary at 7 p.m.
Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Rev. Father Martin Atunga-Baabuge.

Interment will follow in the Duncan Cemetery with military honors by the Duncan Honor Guard.
