Carrie Lynn Wells Gaines of Shady Side, Md., beloved wife, mother, and sister, passed away suddenly in her sleep at home on January 9, 2015. She was 51.

Lynn was a very special lady, kind and generous, she had a heart of gold and was always willing to help anyone in need. She loved people and always made friends with everyone she met. After meeting Lynn, no one walked away a stranger.

She spent many years working with the elderly as an activities coordinator, a job she loved. It brought joy to her heart knowing she did something that made a difference, but it was her role as a mom that brought her the greatest joy. She would say the most precious gift in her life was her children. She loved them so much and was so very proud of them. She would brag about them to anyone who would listen.

No one could tell a story the way she could and she had a way of making everyone smile and laugh. Her passing will leave a very large hole in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her that no one will ever be able to fill. We find some comfort in knowing mom and dad were there waiting for you with open arms, welcoming you into the presence of the Lord.

Lynn is survived by her husband, Chris Gaines; her children, Isabella and Christopher Gaines; her brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Kimberly Wells (Julia, Mary Beth, Scott) of Salem; her brother and brother-in-law, Patrick Wells and Daniel Ward of Winter Garden, Fla. She is predeceased by her parents, Bobby and Linda Wells.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2015, at the Sherwood Abbey at Sherwood Memorial Park, 1250 E. Main St., Salem, Virginia and a memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. Interment at Sherwood Memorial Park will follow the service.
