D. L. Cornwell dies at Monticello Home Monticello, Ga., April 3. (Special)--D. L. Cornwell, on of Jasper County's most highly esteemed citizens, died at his home here this morning at 8:30 o'clock after an illness of several weeks. Mr. Cornwell was 79 years of age. At the beginning of the war between the states he enlisted in the Thirty-second Georgia regiment and spent most of the time as secretary to General Todd. General Beauregard and General Twiggs, now Judge Twiggs, of Savannah. Mr. Cornwell was a member of Mt. Zion church at Mechanicsville, a Mason, and a gentleman of high and noble traits of character. The funeral will occur Sunday morning at Mt. Zion church and will be conducted by the Masons. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. M. R. Key and Mrs. V. F. McMichael, of Monticello, also his wife, one daughter, Mrs. J. F. Hardy, of Eastman, and four sons, Colonel G. H. Cornwell and J. D. Cornwell, of Atlanta, and G. W. Cornwell and J. Troy Cornwell of Monticello.
