Alta Mae Bair of Silt Mesa, near Silt, died Tuesday May 18,[sic] 1982, at Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs after a lengthy illness. She was 67. Mrs. Bair, a resident of Silt Mesa for 13 years, had been head teller at the First National Bank in Glenwood Springs, where she had been employed for 23 years. She was born Alta Mae Sill Feb. 17, 1915, at Layton, Utah, where she spent her childhood and attended schools. She married Elwood F. Bair at Salt Lake City, Utah, Oct. 25, 1933. He survives. Prior to moving to Silt Mesa, Mrs. Bair had been a resident of Cottonwood Creek near Glenwood Springs where she and her husband were involved in sheep ranching. They also lived in California, Oregon and Washington. She was a member of the Rifle ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Survivors in addition to her husband include three sons, Lowell "Pete" of Basalt, Steven of Parker and Dr. Elwood Bair of Carlsbad, N. M.; two brothers, Sterling Sill of Salt Lake City and Claude Sill of Idaho Falls, Idaho; two sisters, Marguerite Bourne of Farmington, Utah, and Genevieve Dixon of Morgan, Utah; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
