Lockney, Texas

Byron Cox Ford, age 88, of Lockney, passed away, Monday, January 12, 2015 in Lockney, just a few weeks after his 88th birthday. Memorial Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the Methodist Church in Lockney. Arrangements are under the care of Moore Rose Funeral Home in Lockney.

Byron was born on December 24, 1926 in Raymondville, TX. His family moved to the Lockney area when he was in the fourth grade. He graduated from Lockney High in 1944 and soon did what many young men from that generation did: he signed up for military service. He joined the Merchant Marines. After returning from the service, he attended Tech Texas. He ultimately left college to return to Lockney and started a life-long career in farming. In 1948, he married Patsy Louise Ford of Lockney. They were married for over 65 years until her death in 2013. Byron was an avid golfer, and loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed those hobbies with friends as well as his children and grandchildren.

Byron was preceded in death by one child, Michael Byron Ford, his parents Attie Cox Ford and Henry C. Ford, Sr., his brother Henry C. Ford, Jr., and his wife, Patsy Louise Harris Ford.

He is survived by a daughter, Diane Johnson and her husband, Carlton Johnson of South Plains, two sons, Tony Ford and his wife, Karen, of Fort Worth, and Bernie Ford of Lockney, as well as eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers that memorials be given to First United Methodist Church of Lockney.
