Elizabeth Maltba Goforth, age 75, of Newland passed away on January 11, 2015 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital.

A native of Avery County, she was born October 22, 1939 a daughter of the late Roy and Ruby Stewart Maltba.

She worked for Baxter Health Care for 20 years and enjoyed crocheting and painting.

Elizabeth attended Blevins Creek Freewill Baptist Church.

Along with her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her: husband, Robert Goforth; sister, Joyce Franklin; brothers, Delbert Maltba, Larry Maltba.

Elizabeth has left to cherish her memory here: daughter, Misty Goforth of Altamont; sons, Bobby Goforth of Altamont, Keith Goforth and wife Anita of Banner Elk, Steve "Bo" Goforth of Altamont, Rusty Goforth and wife Christy of Cleveland, NC; sisters, Hildren Holtsclaw of Altamont, Phyllis Vance of Morganton, Nell Pittman of Spruce Pine, Minnie Pittman of Bakersville; brother, Newt Maltba of Altamont; four grandchildren; one great grandchild.

Funeral services for Elizabeth Maltba Goforth will be conducted on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at 8:00 pm at the Grandfather Chapel with Larry Beam and Michael Sheppard officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until the service hour. Family, friends and pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 12:15 p.m. to go in procession to the Mount Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery for graveside services.
