AYDEN | Addie McNeill Allegood, 100, passed away January 9, 2015, at Vidant Medical Center. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at the Ayden Christian Church. Burial will follow in the Ayden cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 13, 2015, between the hours of 7-9 p.m. at Farmer Funeral Service, 109 2nd St., Ayden. Mrs. Allegood was born November 4, 1914, in Broadway in Lee County and moved to Ayden in Pitt County upon her marriage to Royce Allegood. She graduated in 1963 from East Carolina College with a BS in Elementary Education and taught school in Lenoir County at Contentnea Elementary School until her retirement. Mrs. Allegood was preceded in death by her husband, Royce Linwood Allegood, a son Dr. Darrell W. Hurst of Waynesboro, Va., and 10 brothers and sisters. She is survived by a son, Royce Linwood Allegood Jr. of Ayden; a daughter, Donna A. LaMotte and husband Paul of Greenville; daughter-in-law, Lida Hurst of Waynesboro, Va.; grandchildren, Holly Hurst and Chad Hurst of Staunton, Va.; a brother, Bernie McNeill of Fayetteville; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Flowers are welcome, however, memorial contributions may be made to Ayden Christian Church, 482 2nd St., Ayden, NC 28513. Arrangements are by Farmer Funeral Service.
