Mrs. Frances Ivey Murphy, age 67, died Sunday January 11, 2015 evening at Brown’s Health and Rehab under the care of Gentiva Hospice. The Bulloch County native was employed with Shoney’s Restaurant for nine years and Western Sizzlin for two years. The majority of her life was spent as a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She was a member of the Emit Grove Baptist Church where she was a member of the Ladies of the Light Sunday School Class. Mrs. Murphy was preceded in death by her parents, Kitty and John H. Ivey; a sister, Carolyn Faye Dailey and a brother, H.L. Ivey. Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Billy Murphy, Sr. of Brooklet; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Billy Franklin Murphy, Jr. and Melissa of Brooklet and Benjimin Bryan Murphy of Augusta; two grandsons, Ethan and Andrew Murphy; a granddaughter, Meredith Murphy; a sister, Yvonne Zelt of Brooklet and three brothers, Pat Ivey of Statesboro, Tim Ivey of Sylvania and Bobby Ivey and Debro Jones of Portal. Several nieces and nephews also survive, including Jessica Ivey Phillips of Brooklet, who she loved as a daughter. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00am in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson with Rev. Tim Huffingham officiating. Interment will be in the Emit Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Travis Ivey, Kyle Ivey, Melvin Ivey, Christopher Ivey, Tyler Zelt, Terry Ivey and Ricky Ivey. Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home of Statesboro is in charge of the arrangements.
