Curtis O’Neal Hopkins, Sr., 68, of Cordova, passed away on January 10, 2015 at his home. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He was born on January 30, 1946 in Brownsville, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vester G. Hopkins and Louise Murphy. Mr. Hopkins is survived by his wife of 40 years, Patricia Hopkins and by two sons, Curtis O’Neal Hopkins, Jr. and Glenn Wellington Hopkins (Lauren); two grandsons, Isaac O’Neal Hopkins and Ethan Lee Hopkins and one granddaughter, Parker Clausel; two brothers, Elton Hopkins (Carlene) of Memphis and Glenn Hopkins (Darlene) of Greenfield and two sisters, Anita Nearn of Memphis and Jacqueline Hopkins of Las Vegas, NV. He graduated from Memphis Tech High School and received his Bachelor’s degree from Memphis State University and attended Memphis State Law School. He served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Hopkins retired from Helena Chemical serving many years as Regional Credit Manager and, later, Loan Officer for Helena Lending. He served on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Credit Management - Mid South Unit and was also a licensed contractor for residential construction. He was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church and a Mason. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, reading, music, and woodworking. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, January 13 from 5-8 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd. Mr. Hopkins’ Celebration of Life Service will be at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 14 with interment to follow in Memorial Gardens.
