Phyllis E. Ahlf, 57, a former resident of Cheyenne County, died June 23, 1991, in Lafayette, La.

Graveside services and inurnment will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 1 at the Pleasantview Cemetery, Lodgepole with the Rev. Dr. Julian Miguel of the First United Methodist Church of Sidney officiating.

Phyllis Elaine Walters was born on May 28, 1934, at Houston, Texas, the daughter of Gerald and Evelyn Farmer Walters. She was reared and attended school in Houston. On Oct. 9, 1967, she married Thomas Ahlf at Great Bend, Kans. They moved to Sidney where she worked as a welder for Plains Manufacturing from 1974 to 1981. Her husband died in August of 1976. In 1982 she moved to Lafayette and began working at the Marshall Nursery in Lafayette and was the firm's manager until 1988. Then she began attending, and working for, the University of Southwestern Louisiana as a grower and horticulturist.

She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, gardening, reading, friends, stained glass and painting. She is survived by three daughters: Jill Sanderson of Odessa, Texas; Valerie Mossman of Omaha and Lori Geiger of Sidney; two sons: Dean Harned of Horn Lake, LA, and Tom Ahlf, Jr., of Lena, LA; one sister, Beverly Gray of Lafayette, LA, one brother, Michael Woods of Lake Mary, Fla., and nine grandchildren
