Ella retired in the early 1970's from the former Bainbridge Naval Training Center, Bainbridge, MD, where she was a supervisor in laundry service. She is a graduate of Calvert Agricultural High School, Cecil County, MD, Class of 1938.
Ella was a member of the Perryville United Methodist Church, Perryville, MD, where she taught Sunday school for many years and was also a member of the church choir. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Perryville Fire Company, the Ladies Auxiliary to the Susquehanna American Legion Post No. 135, Perryville, MD, and the Friends of Rodgers Tavern. For years she owned and operated Cullum Ceramics on the corner of Front and Otsego Streets in Perryville.
Ella is survived by her brother, and many other family members who loved her.
In addition to her parents, Ella was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur E. Cullum; son, John W. Cullum; brothers, Eli M. Strimel, Arthur Strimel, John Strimel; sisters, Doris Anderson and Edna Sullins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Perryville United Methodist Church in care of Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., P.O. Box 766, Perryville, MD 21903-0766.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Tuesday, February 15, 2011, 11 AM, at the Perryville United Methodist Church, Perryville, MD. Pastor Leslie G. Slak of the Perryville United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Harford Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen, MD.
