MARION, Va., Clifton Eugene Anderson, age 81, passed away Saturday January 10, 2015, at the Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion, Va.

He was born in Rich Valley, Va., to the late James Kelly "Kell" Anderson and Jessie Maloyed Anderson'

He was preceded in death by two sisters

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was an avid gardner.
He began working in the tobacco fields at an early age and later focused on vegetable gardening.
His greatest pleasure came from sharing the fruits of his labor's with his family and many friends.

Survivors include his devoted and loving wife of 21 years, Phyllis Anderson; one son, Jeffery (Jenny) Anderson, Rural Retreat, Va.; one sister, Evelyn (Joe) Gombash, Romeoville, Ind.; one granddaughter, Claire (Andy) Richardson, Staunton, Va.; one grandson, Hunter Anderson and special friend, Julie Kell, of Marion, Va.; one great-grandson, Samuel Richardson; two stepdaughters, Karen (Jim) Stein, Alexandria, Va., and Sharon (Dean) Bullins of Marion, Va.; two step grandchildren, Josh and Kaila Stein; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at the Bradley's Funeral Home in Marion with the Reverend Jeremy Dunn officiating.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Ridgedale Cemetery in Rich Valley.
