Edgar “Jerry” Anderson, age 75, of Monona passed away on Friday, July, 11, 2014, at St. Mary’s Hospital.

He was born on Dec. 5, 1938, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Edgar and Iona (Thompson) Anderson and grew up in Russell Springs, Ky. He served in the U.S. Air Force, on special assignment in Okinawa, Japan. Jerry joined the City of Madison Fire Dept. in 1964, and in 1986 started and led the City of Madison Arson Squad until his retirement in 1996. He loved bowling, fishing, golfing and hunting.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Mary Anderson; daughters, Pamela Durden, Lisa Anderson and Michelle Shelhamer; sons, Mark (Tina) Anderson, William (Meghan) Nelson and John (Amy) Anderson; sister, Judy Kiesow; and like a son, Pat Durden. He was preceded in death by his parents; and half-sister, Mary Edith Yates.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, at 6 p.m., on Thursday, July 17, 2014. Visitation will be held at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. Memorials may be made to “Immaculate Heart of Mary School Scholarship Fund”, 5101 Scholfield St., Monona.
