Judith was a 1964 graduate of Helias High School. She was employed with AT&T for over 22 years, then retiring from South Carolina State Ports Authority in 2009. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, fishing, being in nature, playing cards, trips to Branson and especially spending time with her family. Judith never knew a stranger.
Along with her husband, Robert, she is survived by three sons: Robert Burrows (Susan Donnovan) of Wilmington, NC, Anthony Burrows (Denise Jones) of Warsaw NC, and Christopher Burrows of Linn; three brothers: Paul “P.J.” Mertens (Linda) of Rolla, Gerald Mertens (Victoria) of Vermont, and Karl Mertens (Tammy) of Jefferson City; one sister: Kathy McClure of Russellville; one sister-in-law: Carolyn Mertens of St. Martins; two grandchildren: Joshua Burrows and Lorri Tanner; three step-grandchildren:: Brenden Donovan, Ryan Donovan, and Alyssa VanBourgondien; two great-grandchildren: Lilly Tanner and Elaina Cox; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother: James Mertens and one sister: Barbara McBaine.
Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2014 at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 3:15 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at St. Peter Catholic Church with Fr. Ignazio C. Medina officiating. Entombment will follow in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society.
