He apprenticed with John Anderson who owned
Anderson Furniture and Funeral Home in
Lindsay. In 1919 James became a co-owner.
Subsequently he became sole owner of
MACKEY FUNERAL HOME which has passed
down to the third generation.

James married Myrtle Harriet Taylor
in Toronto on Feb.29,1916.
Children:

married Robert Campbell Smith Harpur
(1916-1983). Both buried in Riverside.
They had four children.

(2) Linden James Mackey
(Nov.19,1918-Aug.28,1987)
married Velma Martin (1916-2000)
No children.
Linden worked at the funeral home as
director/co-owner.

(3) Margaret Kathleen Mackey
(Jan.21,1921-Apr.3,2013)
married William Harrison Walker
(1920-1981). Both buried in Riverside.
They had three children.
