"Robert Franklin Hudgins, 72 of Mentor died December 28, 2014 at his home with his family around him after a brief battle with cancer.
He was born on February 11, 1942 in Leon, KY to the late Cecil P. and Mabel (Wilson) Hudgins, Sr.
Robert worked for Neway Stamping for 33 years and retired in 2007. He enjoyed traveling, especially to casinos and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jo (Helmick) Hudgins of Mentor; daughters, Robyn (Ron) Zahursky of Painesville and Cindy Hudgins (Gayle Gorgas) of MI; step-son, Scott Miller of FL; he was Poppy to, Megan, Natasha, and Sammy Zahursky; and Papa Bob to Jordan and Luke Hudgins; in-Laws, Midred Nemchik, Bill Helmick, Sarah, and Dave (Shay) Helmick; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Roy W. and Cecil P. Jr.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 30, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave (opposite Lake Erie College) and Wednesday, December 31 from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Willoughby Memorial Gardens.
