Marshall C. Boyd, 78, of Keokuk, an engineer for the Hubinger Co. for 25 years and a prize-winning trapshooter, died Wednesday (Dec. 16, 1992) in the Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
Born Aug. 9, 1914, in Keokuk, Mr. Boyd was a son of Robert and Nellie Coulter Boyd. A graduate of Keokuk Senior High School, he attended the University of Iowa. He was a member of the First Christian Church and had been employed by the Hulson Grate Co.
Mr. Boyd was an avid trapshooter and a member of Duck's Unlimited, the National Turkey Federation, Pheasants Forever, the Iowa State Trapshooting Association, American Trapshooting Association, and a charter member of the Tri-State Gun Club and the National Rife Association.
Mr. Boyd won numerous trapshooting trophies, including double victories at the 1984 Grand American. At age 70, he captured a senior veteran trophy, defeating 3,192 competitors.
On June 6, 1941, he married Geraldine White in Keokuk. She survives.
Survivors also include two daughters, Linda Griffey of South Pasadena, Calif., and Jan Lancaster of Austin, Texas; and a brother, John H. Boyd of Keokuk.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in the Vigen Memorial Home by the Rev. Bill Mitchell. Burial will be in Sandusky Cemetery in rural Keokuk.
Visitation will be held after 1 p.m. today with family meeting friends from 7 to 9 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church in Keokuk or to the American Cancer Society.
