Son of PHILLIP and CHRISTINA GRITZ EMMERT
Peter was born in the Birmingham section of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Peter became an orphan at an early age and was raised at the W. A. Passavant Orphan Home in Butler County. He was taught the Machinist Trade.

Prior to his 16th birthday, Peter enlisted in Company D., 77th Pennsylvania volunteers

March 2, 1886 Peter married Alice Catharine (Carson) Emmert. They were the parents of 2 daughters: Camilla Magdaline, and Irene Eveline

Formed the Company Emmert & ConnellY Plumbers where he was the Senior Member.

February, 1897, Peter Emmert was elected for a three-year term as Mayor of Braddock.

Member of Braddock Field lodge, No. 510, F. and A. M. ; Shiloh chapter No. 357, R. A. M. ; Tancred commandery. No. 48, Knights Templars, and Syria temple, A. A. O.of M. S.
