Mount Olive

Funeral for Max Wayne Reed, 74, of Mount Olive will be Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Mount Olive with Bro. Doug Moore and Bro. Jon Ferguson officiating and Ridout's Gardendale Chapel directing. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church.

Mr. Reed, who died Saturday, November 29, 2014, was born December 11, 1939, in Vineland to the late Thomas Earnest Reed and Margaret Bridges Reed. He served in the U.S. Army for two years. He retired as a maintenance superintendent at Champion Paper Mill. Wayne loved spending time with family and doing maintenance at his church. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Mount Olive and Gideons International. He was always helping someone somewhere.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Glenda Cheryl Reed; three daughters, Robin Reed Dempsey, Orange Beach, Angie Reed Moses, Decatur, and Stephanie Reed Elkins, Gardendale; brother, Bobby Joe Reed, Pelham; sister, Judy Reed Hutto, Vineland; and six grandchildren, Morgan and Dakota Dempsey, Anna and Collin Moses, Reed and Mary-Kate Elkins.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association .
