Agnes E. Quinn, age 72 of rural Carlos, Minnesota, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 1994 at the Long Prairie Memorial Hospital in Long Prairie.
Agnes Elizabeth Zehnle was born on December 30, 1921 in Reynolds Township, Todd County to William and Mary (Laumeyer) Zehnie. After graduating from high school in 1938, Agnes attended the St. Cloud Teacher's college and received her teaching certificate. She taught country school for a few years before moving and working in Minneapolis. On October 1, 1946 Agnes was united in marriage to Desmond Quinn at St. Mary's Church in Long Prairie. The couple moved to their farm in Belle River Township, Douglas County, where they have lived and worked every since.
Agnes was a member of St. Nicholas church and was very active in her faith. She was a member and past president of the Christian Mothers Society, belonged to the Rebekah Mission Circle and was a leader in the church's "Renew" program. She also served the parish council for three years. She had many hobbies, including her love for gardening, cooking and canning. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting. She was a dependable and loyal friend and loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother who will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Agnes is survived by her husband, Desmond; one son: Thomas and Cheryl Quinn of Mitchell, South Dakota; two daughters: Mary and Dennis Grythe of Sauk Centre; Diane and Loren Liesemeyer of Osakis; 14 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; seven sisters: Julia and Rosalind Zehnle of Long Prairie; Lucille and Jack Pesta of Long Prairie; Leona and Marie Stepaniak of Bloomington and New Brighton; Rita and Ambrose Schibilla of Minneapolis; Catherine and Virgil Nelson of Minneapolis; one brother: Rudolph Zehnle of New Brighton. She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister Ardis Anne Zehnle; four brothers: Benedict, Leonard, Anthony and William Zehnle.
Funeral services were held on Monday, April 25, 1994 at 11 a.m. at the St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Belle River with Father Jeff Ethen officiating. Readers were Ella Patrick and Loren Liesemeyer and server was grandson, Jonathan Robinson. Active pallbearers were Joe, Doug and John Pesta, Tony and Bill Stepaniak and Mark Nelson. Honorary pallbearers were the Christian Mothers Society and the Rebekah Mission Circle. Arrangements were handled by the Roy-Hetland Funeral Home in Osakis.
