Mr. Harding was born in Portsmouth. He had retired from the Naval Regional Medical Center Portsmouth Naval Hospital after 39 years. He was the widower of Carolyn B. Harding. He was a member and former vestryman of St. James Episcopal Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara H. Fountain and Florence H. Williams, both of Portsmouth, and Carolyn H. Bryant of Randalstown, Md.; two sons, Cornelius E. Harding Jr. and William Leslie Harding, both of Portsmouth; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a niece, Juanita H. O'Neal of Springfield, Mass.; five sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and a host of cousins, in-laws and friends and a special cousin, Zela Brown.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. James Episcopal Church by the Rev. Father Jesse L. London. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Portsmouth. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Corprew Funeral Home.
