Mr. D. L. Owen, died suddenly of heart failure Thursday at his home on Wales street. He had been in declining health for some time. The deceased was in the 70th year of his age and was a Confederate Veteran. He had made his home here for many years. He is survived by a wife and the following children: Messrs. J. T., J. H., C. W. and W. R. Owen of Toshes (Pittsylvania Co.); Mrs. B. A. Simpson of Greensboro, N.C. and W. D. and Otho Owen of this city.
Funeral services will be conducted from the residence this afternoon.
Interment will be made in Leemont Cemetery. The Cabell-Graves Camp of Confederate Veterans will attend the services in a body.
