French-American film director and actor. As a young man he moved to America, starting to work in Hollywood with the father, the director Maurice Tourneur. His film career began in 1923 as an actor, while in 1931 beginnings as a director in "Tout ça ne vaut pas l'amour". But success arrived in the years '40, working for the RKO Pictures in "Phantom Raiders" (1940), "I Walked with a Zombie" (1943), "The Leopard Man" (1943), all horror, and then change completely general, passing from the drama at the noir, including "Days of Glory" (1944) starring Gregory Peck and "Out of the Past' (1947), with Robert Mitchum, Kirk Douglas and Jane Greer. In 1965 he directed his last film, "War-Gods of the deep", with Vincent Price and Tab Hunter.
