"Max Jackson, who spent more than sixty years in funeral service, died late Thursday night according to his nephew Buddy Jackson.

Max graduated from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in 1952 before beginning his career at Ward-Wilson Funeral Home where he was employed for 41 years. After a brief retirement he joined the staff of Byrd Funeral Home where he worked 22 years, most recently as a consulting director.

Buddy Jackson said the exact cause of death isn’t known but his uncle was suffering from congestive heart failure. He had recently been in declining health. Jackson was 88 years old.

Jackson conducted more funeral services, by far, than any other funeral director in Dothan and perhaps the entire state. He served several generations during his long career."
