Janet L Seward Dunn, 80, of Bloomington, died Sunday at Bloomington Hospital.

Born Oct 5, 1915, in Bloomington, she was a descendant of the Austin Seward family which came to Bloomington in 1821 and established the Seward Foundry. She was the eldest daughter of Fred A. and Dorothy (Hopper) Seward.

A 1932 graduate of Bloomington High School, she received an associate's degree in psychology from Indiana University in 1936. She and her husband, the late George Wandelohr Dunn Sr., were co-owners of the Bloomington Dr. Pepper Plant.

She was a participant on the boards of the Bloomington Hospital Foundation, Monroe County Historical Society, Monroe County Historical Museum, the William Hammond Mathers Museum and the American Lung Association.

She was a member of the First Christian Church, Psi Iota Xi, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Conversation Club, Needlecraft Club, Argonaut Club, the IU Alumni Association, Varsity Club and Kentucky Colonels of Monroe County.

Survivors include three sons, George W. Dunn Jr. of Chicago, Fred Seward Dunn and Allen Waples Dunn, both of Bloomington; one sister, Doris M. Seward of Bloomington, and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Charles William Dunn, in 1996.
