BOSTON ~ Christine Elizabeth Conway Watkins of New Bedford died Thursday September 17, 2009 at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Sheldon S. Watkins. Born in North Kingstown Rhode Island, the daughter of the late John Conway and the late Rita (Alexander) Andrews, she grew up in the Providence Rhode Island, area and settled in New Bedford twenty-five years ago.

Mrs. Watkins was the President of Fair Tide Shellfish Company in New Bedford and had been involved in the seafood industry for more than twenty years. She was an avid reader of mystery novels and loved her dogs, Max and Greta, and all animals in general.

She is survived by two daughters, an aunt, an uncle, and several cousins.

In accordance with her wishes, she will be cremated and a Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday September 25, 2009 at 12 noon in Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, New Bedford, followed by interment in St. John Cemetery. Arrangements are by THE DONAGHY FUNERAL HOME, 465 County Street, New Bedford.
