Raymond Eugene Landes, 77, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2015, in Daphne, AL. He was born in St. Louis MO and moved with his family to Fairhope, AL when he was 8 years old. Raymond joined the Army National Guard in 1955 serving for 8 years as a Medic. In 1961 while he was an instructor at Arthur Murray dance studio, he met, romanced, and married the beautiful Beverly Medved. In 1963 they were blessed with the birth of their firstborn, Claude, followed in 1965 by the birth of their second son, Robert. He began, in 1965, a successful 35 year career at Scott Paper Co. where he worked as a Painter and Maintenance Electrician.He had a passion for collecting antiques, especially military arms. Upon his retirement in 1999, he and Bev enjoyed their shared passions for antique collecting, travelling, and most of all spending time with family.Preceding him in death were his parents Claude W. and Martha K. Landes, his sister, Virginia Brantley and his brother, William “Bill” Landes.
He is survived by wife Beverly Medved Landes, son, Claude, with his wife, Terrie and their sons, Christian and Brendan, son, Robert “Bob”, sister, Patricia “Pat” Krauss and her husband, Lawrence and sister, Betty Deloach and her husband, James. Also surviving are many beloved nephews, nieces, their spouses, and numerous great nephews & nieces.
A Memorial service will be held at 12:00am, Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at Ascension Lutheran Church at 8888 County Rd. 64 in Daphne. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to: The Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas, 66675. Expressions of condolence may be offered at www.hughesfh.com.
