Michael "Sandman" Dodd, 51, passed away at10:36 pm Wednesday January 7, 2015 at his home. He was born on August 15, 1963 in Wood River, IL the son of the late Donald & Gloria (Kennedy) Dodd. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton and worked as an auto mechanic for Kinder Auto Repair. He was also a member of the Bluff City Motorcycle Club, loved to play in a dart league, bowling league and a pool league. He is survived by his a son and daughter-in-law, Eric & Lacey Dodd of Bethalto, and a daughter, Emily Booth of Alton; three sisters, and two brother-in-law, Mary Ann Godwin of Alton, Marie & Lester Schutz of Cottage Hills, Mylinda & Robert Butler of Jerseyville, and Matthew Dodd of Fosterburg; four grandchildren, Heather Lynn and Morgan Booth, MacKenzie and Gabriel Dodd, two nieces and two nephews, Chad Doellman, Katherine Flatt, Amanda Schutz, and Joshua Schutz. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Friday January 9, 2015 at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be held at 11 am Saturday January 10, 2015 with Fr. Jim Walther officiating. Inurnment will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alton. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
