After military service, "Whitey" or "Buckets", as he was known in the Navy, returned to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he studied at the Milwaukee Institute of Technology (MIT) where he met Rosemary Louise Lange. After graduation, he began working for the General Electric (GE) Corporation and later Martin Marietta as a Lab Technician. He remained with those companies for nearly 45 years and received accolades for his inventions and suggestions.
In 1966 he moved to Florida when GE moved his department to a facility on Bryan Dairy Road in North St. Petersburg, Florida.
He married Rosemary in February 1956, and had three sons in the next seven years. His wife, sons, and grand children were his focus of devotion and pride. His oldest son, Russell is a retired US Air Force, Chief Master Sergeant, and Department of Defense/Army civilian. His second son, Roy is married to Jo Ann, who is the loving mother to Larry's two grandchildren (Ryan and Eric). Jo Ann is a Registered Nurse. Roy is a Captain with Tampa Fire/Rescue. Ryan and his wife Leah are the parents of Larry's great-grandchildren (Rylee and Jacob). Ryan also works for Tampa Fire/Rescue as a Fire Fighter/Paramedic. Leah is a teacher of visually impaired children for Hillsborough County Schools. Eric just graduated this month from the University of Florida in Gainesville with a Master of Science in Structural Engineering. Following in Rosemary's footsteps, his youngest son Randy is an accomplished Artist.
Many of Larry's innovations and inventions supported playing and enjoying life with his sons and grandsons. Shortly after moving to Florida, he created Shuffle-board golf which he enjoyed with his sons in their driveway in Clearwater, Florida. His creative and inventive talents were very devoted to supporting Rosemary and Randy with their artistic interests at art shows, pet-portrait business (Animal Expressions), flea-markets and exhibits. The shows and exhibits were transported around the city, county, state and country in a rolling display van specially constructed by Larry.
After Rosemary passed In 2008, Larry began using his creative structural talents to support the organization "Hospice of the Florida Suncoast" building them many ramps, structures and devices to assist them in patient care. He also spent his remaining days, square dancing at venues both at home, in Florida and in Pennsylvania. This became his favorite hobby in his golden years in addition to [missing]
